The Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT) is designed for students who want to attend the New York City Specialized High Schools.
The SHSAT is a test that lasts 3 hours and has a total of 114 questions. There are 94 scored questions and 20 unscored questions. The test questions include both multiple-choice and grid-in for answer choices. The test includes the topics of math, reading comprehension, and sentence grammar.
There are 9 New York City Specialized High Schools. Just as a note, the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School requires an audition or portfolio for admission to the school.

Bronx High School of Science
Brooklyn Latin School
Brooklyn Technical High School
Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts (SHSAT is not required)
High School for Math, Science & Engineering at City College
High School of American Studies at Lehman College
Queens High School for the Science at York College
Staten Island Technical High School
Stuyvesant High School
