HSPT Tutoring and HSPT Test Preparation in Los Angeles
The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is used by many of the Los Angeles Catholic high schools as part of the admissions process. Certain schools in Los Angeles will place more emphasis on the exam than others. Overall, it is best to study and have enough time to prepare for the different sections of the exam.
The HSPT exam is about two and a half hours in length and contains 298 multiple-choice questions. The HSPT exam has five sections: Verbal, Quantitative, Reading, Mathematics, and Language. An optional test for Mechanical Aptitude, Science, or Catholic Religion is also available but most of the Catholic schools in Los Angeles don’t offer these tests and isn’t part of the HSPT exam percentile ranking.
Practice Tests for the HSPT
Students who take practice tests can gain a better understanding of the particular subjects: Verbal, Quantitative, Reading, Mathematic, and Language. Having a chance to practice with sample questions as part of the tests helps students to learn the types of questions on the exam. A particular score on the subject area of the practice tests can help identify the student’s strengths and weaknesses and indicates which areas need improvement.
How to Better Understand HSPT Scores
The HSPT exam covers: Verbal, Quantitative, Reading, Mathematic, and Language Skills. The raw scores for each sections are then added together to get a total score. The total raw scores are then converted to a scaled score between “200-800”. There is no scoring penalty for guessing.
